The “eat” response will be increased by shouting “sahur” to wake the volunteers to enjoy a meal together that has been cooked with love and “bismillah”

There is always joy that comes when Ramadan arrives. Likewise at 3R (Adolescent Volunteer House). Moreover, togetherness in this holy month feels warmer. Gathering moments are getting more and more because the activities during this month are centered at 3R in Peukan Bada.
The cooking picket to serve iftar and sahur meals for other 3R volunteers is a warm moment. Two volunteers who take turns on duty at picket sometimes have to discuss determining the menu to be prepared. Laughter, boisterous voices, shared prayers and serious discussions are also often heard while cooking in the 3R kitchen. Whoever is picket, all strive to produce healthy food that can be enjoyed by all.
During this month of Ramadan, several routine activities carried out in the holy month were again held at 3R, such as breaking the fast together and sharing iftar meals. There is also a kultum (seven-minute lecture) where each volunteer gives a short lecture or shares a story before breaking the fast every day. This cult also has various topics, for example on the Law, Terms & Pillars of Fasting, Fasting vs Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs Theory, the story of Zinnirah Ar-Rumaiyah to Rejecting Privileges.
Another agenda is routine activities that are usually carried out in the form of making ecobricks and cleaning several rooms at 3R as well as community sharing. Community Sharing was carried out in the form of discussions and watching a documentary entitled Bara Dwipa. Regular meetings are also held every Monday to discuss agendas during this month of Ramadan.
Visits and iftar with the younger siblings at the Muhammadiyah Orphanage in the Punge area also brought smiles to the volunteers. The activity, which was held on April 16, 2022, started with the preparation of ingredients that had been prepared the day before, followed by a cooking agenda with volunteers to prepare the joint dish. After that, in the afternoon, using several motorbikes and 3R tricycles, we arrived at the orphanage. The warmth through short conversations with the younger siblings and the caretaker there made the moment of breaking the fast together memorable.
Various agendas can be carried out well because of our enthusiasm, the 3R volunteers. Fasting and positive routines in this month are additional encouragement to be able to continue to spread kindness anywhere. Of course, this is an attempt to become a better person every day.
